Head Start Singing Hearts Chorus - "Creativity In the Classroom" - Workshop for Teachers

Day One: This kicks off the SCR Grant Funded residency where Janice creates a choir with 110 Pre-K Head Start children. This project is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrant Program, a regrant program of the NYS Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the NYS Legislature and administered by The Huntington Arts Council, Inc.

Head Start Singing Hearts Chorus - "Meeting the Students!" - 6 musical sessions in classrooms
10 AM - 12:30 PMCentral Islip Head Start, West Islip, NY
Day Two: Janice meets the children in their classrooms and they sing together for the first time. The goal is to create two choirs of 60 students each (110 total Pre-K Head Start children) which will culminate in two community concerts that are free and open to the public. This project is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrant Program, a regrant program of the NYS Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the NYS Legislature and administered by The Huntington Arts Council, Inc.

Northport Art Walk - Janice & the New Country Road Show Band
1-5 PMOutdoors in front of the Heartichoke store, 145 Main Street, Northport, NY
Our band is excited to return to this wonderful street fair of over 50 venders, artists and musicians. We will once again be performing in front of the beautiful Heartichoke store on Main Street. Musicians and artists are paired up to entertain in front of stores throughout the village. It’s an event for all ages.

Day Three: The students learn more songs, this time paired together with another class. They will continue to build their repertoire and learn to work together in a larger group. The goal is to create two choirs of 60 students each (110 total Pre-K Head Start children) which will culminate in two community concerts that are free and open to the public. Brentwood Family STEAM Extravaganza at East Elem

Janice returns to the third annual STEAM celebration for Kindergarteners and their families in the Brentwood School District. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, & Math are celebrated in a fabulous carnival environment with multiple acts and learning centers, including live animals and a magic show. The puppets and I will be the featured puppetry performance including interactive singing and dancing. We love this fabulous school district!

Day Six: YAY! The students will have their dress rehearsal in the morning as a full choir in the room the concert will be held. The two community concerts will be held that night at 5 PM and 6:30 PM. These concerts are free and open to the public. Each choir will have 60 students (110 total Pre-K Head Start children). This project is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrant Program, a regrant program of the NYS Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the NYS Legislature and administered by The Huntington Arts Council, Inc.
